Performance

The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 shares its platform with the existing IONIQ 5 compact crossover, and thus the power offerings look similar to that model. A rear-wheel drive single motor setup is the base kit, giving you 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That's similar to what you'll find in modern compact sports cars, but with the instant torque of electric power you'll find quicker acceleration to 60 mph when you put your foot down.

A dual-motor version of the IONIQ 6 is available as well, bumping power to 320 horsepower with a combined 446 pound-feet of torque getting you from zero to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. That's some serious grunt on par with several sports cars, all in a powertrain that means no more trips to the pump.

Safety

The Hyundai IONIQ 6 looks to come with all of the requisite driver assistance and safety features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection to give you added confidence on all your highway drives. You'll find a wealth of advanced features as well including adaptive cruise control with stop and go, plus a lane tracing assist that uses road markings and the vehicles ahead to keep you centered in your lane even around gentle curves. You'll also find surround-view cameras, blind-spot camera views, and rear cross traffic alert for added peace of mind.

Technology

With a digital instrument cluster and integrated central display, you'll have a wealth of information at your disposal when you step inside the Hyundai IONIQ 6. A full-screen map view with 3D rendering makes spotting your turn amidst landmarks and buildings easier than ever. You'll also enjoy a range minder system that lets you know which charge points to use along your route so you never get stuck between stops with a low battery.

Hyundai Blue Link technology and the BlueLink app give you remote access to your vehicle from your smartphone. You can start the climate control system and change the temperature from your phone before you go for a drive, and see its charging status if left on a charger when you walk away. You can even remotely lock and unlock your car from the app for safe package delivery or pickup without having to leave the office or hand over your keys.

Interior and Design

The cabin of the upcoming IONIQ 6 is one of elegant simplicity, focusing on tech-forward features and simple design that will stand the test of time. It's not completely devoid of character, with a split-dash, premium materials, and trim options including brushed metal and wood grain accents that look great when illuminated by the ambient interior lighting.

Range and Charging

The single-motor IONIQ 6 looks to take you over 340 miles from a full charge, while the dual-motor version drops that estimated range to just over 310 miles. With either setup, you'll be able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes at a public fast charging station, so even your grocery run can add hundreds of miles of range to your overall trip.
